Linux Kernel 3.8.1 is the first maintenance release for the kernel 3.8 series that brings various changes and bug fixes. In this tutorial, we will see how to install this new kernel release in Ubuntu/Linux Mint systems using a bash script that will do the installation automatically on your system. Installation Linux Kernel 3.8.1 (main)
enter these commands in Terminal:
cd/tmp
wget http://dl.dropbox.com/u/47950494/upubuntu.com/kernel-3.8.1 -O kernel-3.8.1
chmod +x kernel-3.8.1
sudo sh kernel-3.8.1
Reboot your System.
Uninstalling/Removing Linux Kernel 3.8.1 (back to stock kernel)
sudo apt-get purge linux-image-3.8.1*
